The Hartford City Police Department is comprised of twelve full-time Officers. These include the Chief, Deputy Chief, two Detectives, three Sergeants and five Patrolmen. Also included is a full time K-9 Unit, and a three member Emergency Response Team that train with three members from the Sheriffs Office. The Department is actively involved with a number of organizations such as DARE, TRIAD (Crime and the Elderly), Neighborhood Watch groups DFBC (Drug Free Blackford County and Safe Kids. With recent improvements such as competitive wages and benefits, as well as a take home car policy. The Hartford City Police Department is an excellent example of a well trained modern police force.
