 Fire protection in Hartford City is provided by 7 full time firefighters which include a Chief, Asst. Chief, Investigator, Inspector, Engineer, Training Officer, a First Class Firefighter, and 21 volunteers. Four of the full time firefighters are EMT'S. We have over 38,400 hours in training from Master Firefighters to Firefighter I and II.  All firefighters are trained to hazardous material operations level. We have one of the best fire prevention public education, juvenile fire setter and investigation programs in this area. We make an average of 240 calls per year in the city, average response time is 2 minutes. We also service 3 of the 4 townships and all of Blackford Co. for rescue. The average call for townships is 150 per year with a response time of 5 minutes. We received a new Fire Insurance Classification in the city of 5 in 2005 as well as Mutual aid agreements with 13 area fire departments.
Equipment:
1250 GPM 75- foot ladder, Two 1,250 pumpers and a rescue truck equipped automated external defibillator. The TWS has a 1,250 GPM pump, also we have a 2,000 and a 3,200 gallon tanker. All of this equipment is housed in a 24 hour 7 day a week staffed, modern fire station.
